This is the second website redesign we've completed for Pope Memorial Humane Society (formerly the Humane Society of Knox County). Aside from generally updating the aesthetic with a brand new custom Worpdress theme, we worked with Pope to provide more content management abilities than they previously had. This meant deeper integration with Wordpress to cover more areas of the site so they could manage more areas of the site in-house.
Another major goal, however, was to actually reduce the amount of content administration when it came to the animal adoption pages. To do that, we integrated with Shelterluv's APIs to automatically populate the adoption pages with animals flagged as adoptable in their system. This was a huge improvement over the previous method of managing this content which was completely manual leading to duplication of work across both systems. As one can imagine, the previous site was frequently out of sync with actual adoption availability.
